Direct to Player for Libraries

Direct to Player for Libraries

The Direct to Player book service from CELA offers the fastest and most streamlined way to download and read CELA books.

How it works

  1. CELA titles are added to an online bookshelf.
  2. Compatible devices connect to the internet and access this bookshelf for downloading and reading the titles.

Advantages of using Direct to Player

  • There is no need to transfer content to a computer and then again to the desired reading device.
  • Using the virtual Direct to Player bookshelf offers versatile loading options such as automatic selection of titles for CELA patrons according to their reading preferences.

About Direct to Player service

Benefits to libraries

Here are some reasons to use Direct to Player at your library:

  • Loan a machine or device loaded up with books
  • Use as a training tool for patrons or staff and help others understand how to get started with this popular service
  • Demonstrate your library’s innovative accessible services to patrons, caregivers and community members

“All of our library patrons who have had the chance to use the Direct to Player service are impressed and pleased with it. They like the fact that staff will search and download the titles onto the player for them. These patrons leave the library in a hurry as they want to get home to listen to the downloaded titles and return for more.”

~Mark, Circulation Supervisor at Saint John Free Public Library, NB

  • Sign in to your CELA Direct to Player account on celalibrary.ca and select “Get it!” on the title in the format called Direct to Player.
  • Turn on your player or device and follow the instructions to start downloading books.

Loan policies

Automatic selection will stop once there are 12 books on the bookshelf. Books will stay on the device until you delete or return the book. We ask you to do so when the content is no longer needed.
