The 2024 shortlist for the Booker Prize was announced on 16 September 2024. The shortlist includes five women, authors from five countries, and stories which transport readers around the world and beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

Mohawk writer Alicia Elliott and Treaty 1 territory-based writer Brandi Bird are among this year's winners of the Indigenous Voices Awards (IVAs). Elliott takes home the award for published prose in English for her novel And Then She Fell. Bird won the award for published poetry in English for her collection The All + Flesh.
The Indigenous Voices Award is the only major literary prize to celebrate creativity and excellence in published and unpublished work by emerging Indigenous writers.

Nina Dunic has won the Trillium Book Award for The Clarion, a novel about two siblings struggling to find a sense of purpose and belonging. As the siblings endure the many trials and tribulations of their generation like promotions and absent lovers, can they find their sense of self and keep their connection strong?
Established in 1987, the Trillium Book Award annually recognizes the best book and best poetry collection from writers in Ontario. The winners in both the English and French categories will receive $20,000, while the winner of the poetry category will receive $10,000.
