Summary

This book is a curated collection of research and perspectives of hereditary breast and ovarian cancers (HBOC). With contributions from leading experts in the field, the book provides a valuable resource for a holistic view of the genetic basis, clinical… developments and societal implications of these critical diseases. Hence it bridges the gap between science and real-world applications and aims to contribute to empower clinicians&’ treatment decisions in HBOC care. The practice for HBOC has been rapidly increasing due to the clinical development of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors and the spread of companion diagnostics, and it has been changing drastically with the insurance coverage of a part of HBOC treatment in Japan. This volume is based on the best-chosen works presented at JOHBOC and a special chapter delivers a study based on the Society&’s extensive database of Japanese HBOC patients, presenting novel evidence for further advancement in the field. Practical Guide to Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer III - Annual Meeting of the JOHBOC is realized in the background of the remarkable changes in social conditions surrounding HBOC practice and the editors and the authors aim to contribute to the equalization and the widespread of HBOC practice in Japan by sharing the latest information on HBOC practice with medical practitioners, making it useful for their future treatment through this book.
