Résumé
On summer days after dinner when the narrator's mom shoos him out of the house, he waits on the front stoop for his friend, Corey, to come by. Corey is hearing-impaired and stubborn too, and today he is intent on… walking past neighbor Lester's dog. That dog left a scar on the narrator's nose when he was six, and he is afraid. But Corey is on a mission to rescue an abandoned kitten--a mission that gives the narrator newfound courage. For grades K-3
