Margaret Mayfield of Missouri marries naval officer and astronomer Andrew Early in 1905 and moves to a remote island post near San Francisco with him. Margaret befriends the locals while Andrew becomes obsessed with his work. But as World War II approaches, Andrew descends into mental illness. 2010
