Lighthorse policeman Bass Pattee chases down the thieves who stole an ancient deerskin robe and two grand from the Cherokee treasury. Having no legal authority off tribal lands makes Bass's task difficult--his quarry's additional crimes of violence, rape, and murder further complicate things.
