Summary

La leggenda narra che alcune terribili streghe insidiavano il villaggio e i paesi vicini, portando via tutti i bambini che non volevano addormentarsi prima delle dieci di sera. In volo sulle loro scope, sentivano da lontano l'odore dei bambini che… volevano restare svegli; a quel punto, passando attraverso il balcone o la finestra, rapivano i piccoli per farli lavorare come servitori nel loro rifugio nascosto fra le caverne della montagna maledetta. Tutto intorno a quella montagna vi era una foresta incantata, e chiunque avesse osato attraversarla si sarebbe trasformato in una statua di pietra: poveri quei genitori impotenti che cercavano di salvare i loro figli!Le streghe, oltre a rapire quei poveri piccoli e trattarli come servitori, non sfamavano più quelli che stavano crescendo, rinchiudendoli in celle e abbandonandoli al loro destino.Gli abitanti del villaggio, per la maggior parte taglialegna, cominciavano seriamente a perdere la speranza: da una parte, i bambini che venivano portati via dalle streghe, dall'altra le persone pietrificate nella foresta... Sembrava tutto perduto.
