Registering for CELA service

People with a print disability

Register online for your local public library’s CELA service, or ask for help at your public library.

Eligibility

To be eligible for CELA services you must:

  • Live in Canada
  • Have a visual, physical or learning disability that prevents you from reading conventional print.

Proof of disability

If you wish to access the Bookshare collection, you must provide a proof of disability, as required by Bookshare's agreements with publishers. CELA manages the proof of disability process and ensures the privacy of your personal information. If you prefer not to submit a proof of disability, you will still have access to the CELA collection.

Download the proof of disability form, complete it, and send it to members@celalibrary.ca.

Public Libraries

Register an eligible patron for your library’s CELA service.

Educators

Complete the online Educator access program registration form.

Visit the Educator access program page for more information. Add access to Bookshare titles for your school and students by completing the CELA Educator Access Terms of Use form.

Client Access Support Program

The Client access support program is designed for people who will assist privately tutored students, CNIB clients, residents of seniors' residences or long-term care facilities to access CELA's alternate format collection. Visit the Client access support program page for more information.
