1861. Clay Roswell left Texas to join the Pony Express but was robbed and beaten nearly to death on the trail. After recovering he arrives in Fort Churchill, Nevada Territory, and is hired to help string telegraph wires. There he confronts hunger, thirst, Indians, and treachery. 1951
