In this sequel to "Nightjohn", Sarny is freed by Union soldiers and leaves the plantation to find her children. Discovering that they were sent to New Orleans to be sold, Sarny journeys there. Finding employment, she reclaims her children and continues to teach people how to read. Grades 5-8. 1997.
