Summary
Fifteen-year-old Callum has just arrived from Scotland when he hands over his savings to a stranger in exchange for a filthy, half-starved dog and a carved box that he has been warned never to open. Callum is unprepared for the… grinding physical labour of working on a farm; his only source of comfort is Dog, who seems to know all his secret wishes and fears.
