Summary
1965. After Emaline, 11, is crippled in a tractor accident, Daddy kills her beloved dog, Prince, and walks away from their Saskatchewan farm. Mom takes in Angus from the local mental hospital to help with the farm work, but the… neighbours jeer and complain about the crazy man. Emaline sees Angus' kindness and strength, but it is only when he performs the ultimate act of heroism that others in the town finally recognize his worth as a human being. Grades 4-7.
