How to download an EPUB book to mobile

Overview

This tutorial will teach you how to download EPUB books to your mobile device. In order to read them on your device, you will need to download and install Dolphin EasyReader (for iPhone or Android), Voice Dream Reader (for iPhone) or Legere Reader (for Android). For more information on installing EasyReader, see Quick user's guide to EasyReader.

Please note that you need to submit proof of disability in order to access EPUB materials through the Bookshare collection.

Step 1: Find a book

  1. Enter the following address in your Internet browser: celalibrary.ca
  2. Go to the Search edit box.
  3. Enter Heart berries and select the Search button.
  4. A new page with your Search results will display.
  5. Find the title. Within the title summary box is the Get it! options menu.

Step 2: Get it!

  1. From the Get it! options menu, select the ePub format and then select the Get it! button.
    A pop-up appears, confirming your request.
  2. Select OK to close the pop-up.
    If you’re prompted to sign in, enter your library account number and password, and select the Log in button.
  3. Select My Account.
    The My Account page will appear.
  4. Select Available ZIPs to download.
    When the file is available for download, it will be listed on this page. It may take several minutes for the book to appear.
  5. Select the Download link.

Step 3: Read your book

To open your book on an iPhone:

  1. When the book has downloaded, select the Open in… button.
    1. To open it in EasyReader:
      • Select the Open in EasyReader option. 
        The book will be added to your My Books list for you to read in EasyReader.
    2. To open it in Voice Dream Reader:
      1. Select Open in Voice Dream.
        The book is added to Voice Dream Reader.
      2. Select the book to open it. Select the Play button to play the book.

To open your book on an Android device:

  1. Open either EasyReader or Legere Reader.
    • For Easy Reader:
      1. After you have opened the EasyReader app, select the Import icon (Import). 
        A pop-up appears asking you to choose the book file from one of the following locations:
        • Downloads: choose this option if your book is in the Downloads folder on your device
        • Choose a file: choose this option to open the File Manager on your device to browse all available folders
      2. Find the book you would like to read and select it.
    • For Legere Reader:
      1. Select the Add Document button (the + sign).
      2. Select File Browser.
      3. Select your book to open it.
      4. Select the Play button to play the book.
