By Douglas Anderson. 2015
The story of Reggie The Rocket closely tracks the history of the 1960s British Blue Streak rocket program. The author…
Douglas Anderson worked on the assembly and testing of the Rolls-Royce RZ2 engines powering the Blue Streak and was present in Woomera, Australia, for the launch of F3. Based on that experience, Douglas has assigned a personality to the rockets and has thus woven a whimsical element into an otherwise historical account of the Blue Streak Program. Reggie The Rocket is F3, the third in line to be launched, and Douglas was there to cheer him on. It is a sad reality that most heavy-lift booster rockets have been launched only to return to earth as scrap metal or to have disappeared into the ocean depths. Only now, fifty years after Blue Streak, are serious attempts being made to return booster rockets safely back to the launch pad under their own power so they can be reused. The days of 'throw away' rockets must surely come to an end if humans are to continue with orbital flights and deep space exploration.Blood and Bitter Wind

of everyone huddled in the club toilet stall, opened MD, ketamine, old dry speed, crushed e pills, to make big lines that will let us forget the past forty-eight hours that have been so difficult. In Instagram-style vignettes that span Montreal, New York, and Berlin, our narrator — a doctoral student in medieval studies — leads us through the bathrooms and back rooms of clubs and raves as he explores the sex, drugs, and music that define queer nightlife. Accompanied by Jacob Pyne’s full-colour illustrations, which perfectly punctuate the narrator’s occasional self-destructive melancholy, Scenes from the Underground delivers the fully uninhibited field notes of the club scene. The Baby: A Video Novel

recordings The Baby is not your average parenthood novel. Viva, a. k. a. Viva Superstar--actor, writer, painter, denizen of Andy Warhol's world-famous Factory, and early pioneer in video arts--weaves a tale of childbirth and motherhood with often-shocking candor, exploring a new mother's mixed emotions and her internal and external conflicts. Based on filmed records created by Viva's husband, Michael Auder, of their daughter's difficult birth and early development, and interspersed with stills from their life, Viva's addictive video novel tells the story of a fictional couple, Augustine and Frederick Marat, whose unorthodox parenting takes them from New York to Paris to Casablanca to California. In her own unique style, Viva explores breast-feeding and breast pumps, infidelity and incest while offering startlingly intimate details of a family's singular lifestyle. An unabashedly autobiographical literary invention, alternately outrageous and honest, revelatory and touching, The Baby is truly one of a kind. All The Dark Secrets is a powerful saga in the Families of Fairley Terrace series from Jennie Felton, in the…
