fact and fiction; factual in terms of the flying, hiking, and gold-mining two friends enjoyed; fictional in the form of a cleverly woven mystery concerning the loss of a World War II military aircraft. The story is well researched and so masterfully formulated the reader will be hard pressed to separate historical fact from fiction. Mystery in Trib 2 portrays wilderness Alaska accurately and as it can be experienced by anyone fired with a lust for outdoor adventure.By Mary Ellen Johnson. 2018

War Cantata translated by Keith TurnbullHow far will humanity go in its quest for power? Why do we desire to…
eliminate each other through war? War Cantata looks at ways the impulse for violence is transmitted from one generation to the next; for example, when a father teaches his son hatred to transform him into a soldier impervious to pity. Without focusing on a particular battle or soldier, this harsh, intense, choral text builds the rhythmic power of words to expose war's spiral toward hatred. In 2012, SACD (Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques), in partnership with France Culture, awarded War Cantata the Prix SADC for best world play written in French, and CEAD (Centre des auteurs dramatiques) awarded it the Prix Michel-Tremblay for the best play written in Quebec in 2012.Cast of 2 men and a chorusChild Object translated by Chantal BilodeauWith child as a blank page, a man sets about constructing his ideal companion manipulating personality, gender, and body. Gold in Trib 1 is an account of a flying, hiking, and gold prospecting adventure in wild, present-day Alaska. It…
is the story of the exploits of two good friends and their adventures while prospecting for gold. It is a factual account where possible and where not factual, it is the way they would have liked it. As a result, readers will enjoy the book for what it is, and will not take it so seriously as to dash off with expectations of finding their fortune. There is still much gold in Alaska, but Douglas may have made discovering the Glory Hole, wherever it may be, sound somewhat easier and more financially rewarding than it really was.By Mariela Saravia, Ana Paula Ruth Lima. 2017

"I was captivated by the beautiful covers from the start and that captivation just carried straight through from page one…
to the end of each book." ~Jeannette R HolthamA Breathtaking Medieval Saga of Love, Duty, Loyalty, Failure and Triumph in the First Three Volumes of The Knights of England by Mary Ellen Johnson BOOK 1: The Lion and the Leopard - Maria Rendell wants to be a dutiful wife to husband Phillip, but can't deny her attraction to their liege lord, Richard of Sussex. Loving Philip should be easy. She has married the knight of whom minstrels sing; the knight who saved Richard's life. But when Phillip abandons Maria to indulge his wanderlust, she turns to Richard, sparking a passionate affair amidst the crumbling kingdom of Edward II. Meanwhile, Edward II's barons are rebelling, executing his favorites, and across the channel in France, Isabella, Edward II's wife—the She-Wolf of France—plans to invade England. Then King Edward is captured as Richard and Maria prepare to flee to safety, and Phillip returns. Now the day of reckoning is at hand—not only for Maria, Richard, and Phillip, but for that most unfortunate of Plantagenet kings, Edward II.BOOK 2: A Knight There Was - Following his return from battle with a life-threatening sickness, Margery Watson nurses Golden Knight Matthew Hart back to health. A bond deepening between them, Matthew--who refuses to marry so his younger brother may inherit all--begs Margery to openly live with him. Margery agrees. Like her grandmother before her, she will risk all for love. But a scheming adversary concocts a deception in Matthew's absence that leaves Margery the unwitting wife of a wealthy goldsmith--who seeks only to trade on her family name--while believing she was betrayed by Matthew. When Matthew returns from London to find Margery wedded and bedded, he accuses her of betraying HIM. Now, both Margery and Matthew foolishly believe that time, distance and heartbreak will be enough to keep them forever apart.BOOK 3: Within A Forest Dark - With his belief in the Perfection of Knighthood challenged by battlefield atrocities, Matthew Hart returns to London, wishing to reunite with his first love, Margery Watson. Margery's cruel husband is now dead. As a wealthy widow, she has no intention of returning to the bonds of marriage. But she cannot turn away her handsome knight, no matter the depth of innocent blood he spilled in the name of honor and duty. As Matthew forces himself to fulfill feudal obligations, and Margery's unrest turns treasonous, the forces of king and kingdom may prove the lovers' ultimate undoing or their best hope.Publisher Note: Readers with a passion for history will appreciate the author's penchant for detail and accuracy. My Adventurous Friend is based on accounts of my friend Hagen's life, as he related it to me, and of…
the adventures we enjoyed together in Alaska. We would reminisce while sitting around a campfire in some wilderness area during our hikes and gold prospecting ventures. We could be debating current events and somehow our talk would drift back to events of earlier times. Over the years, piece by piece, I learned almost everything there was to know about my friend. Hagen had a varied and adventurous life beginning in wartime Germany and, by a circuitous route, eventually migrated to Alaska in 1973. Hagen had a longing for adventure and was never satisfied with the status-quo. He was strong, tenacious and once his mind was made up he would seldom deviate. In his mind, if it wasn't difficult then it wasn't worth doing. He always said he was born one hundred years too late to be a real pioneer but he sure did his best to emulate them. Hiking to our gold claim--forty miles from the nearest gravel road--and making it there alone in the dead of the Alaska winter was almost enough to satisfy his craving for adventure.By Douglas Anderson. 2015
Douglas Anderson, the author, was born in Derbyshire, England. After his father passed away, Douglas went to live on his…
Grandfather's farm. Never very interested in animal husbandry, he leaned more toward the mechanical aspects of farming: maintaining and operating machinery. After an apprenticeship in the mechanical field, Douglas joined Rolls-Royce and began an interesting and diverse career. In the ensuing years, that career encompassed: jet engines, rocket engines and industrial gas turbines. Douglas immigrated to Canada in 1967, to the USA in 1977 and back to Canada in 2001. An adventurous fourteen years while supporting RR products in Alaska prompted Douglas to write and to become a published author. For many years, Anderson traveled and represented the company. Representing covers those years and some of the situations, humorous and otherwise, that he and his fellow Reps encountered at home base and at far-away places. The characters are real and these events actually happened as described. Most are documented for the first time in Representing.By Jennifer Robson. 2019
