and comprehensive picturing of a sublunary world in which meaning is exhibited by and shared between &“beings&” (ousiai). This approach is mirrored in modern philosophy by phenomenology and in modern science by biosemiotics. Peter N. Jackson argues, however, that Aristotle overcomes the slippery subjectivism residually found even in these sympathetic modern approaches; meaning is not just how living beings perceive the world, but is an inherent property of the world itself and the beings it contains. From this perspective, our vision of the world is itself incomplete and superficial if it does not recognise the ontological structures that give definition to that world or the principle of complementarity through which we can engage with the complex reality of that world. By contrast, reductionism claims to achieve a complete picture of the world but does so only by conflating philosophy, which needs to see the whole, with science, which needs to focus upon the part and which takes from philosophy only what it needs to do so. The price of this claimed completion is profound; it is the flattening of being and the annihilation of life itself and the milieu of meaning in which it exists. This volume appeals to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers, and helps us understand the world through science, mathematics, philosophy, and religion, without conflating or reducing these perspectives into one.

the last forty years work and employment in the advanced economies has undergone profound transformations and, more recently, a key role has been played by the development of platform capitalism and the gig economy as a way of organising work and providing services. There are still huge gaps in research on how platform-mediated gig work impacts the structural vulnerability of migrant workers and how this can be addressed by welfare policies. The aim of this book is to address some of these issues. It includes empirical and theoretical contributions from across the globe on topics such as migrant workers and digitalised work, artificial Intelligence and work, digitalisation and work-related policy, digital surveillance, labour struggles in the digitalised service sector, unionism and self-organisation in the gig economy. It will be of great interest to scholars and students of work and employment, the future of work, social movements, migration and labour studies.

It is dedicated to Professor Marcos Dajczer, whose research and teaching activities have influenced new generations of geometers. Some of the works contained in this volume are written by his mathematical descendants and reflect the state of the art and current discussion in the field. Now retired from the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), Brazil, but still active, Professor Dajczer has conducted research in these and other fields, contributing to the development of submanifold theory in Brazil. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1975, and received his PhD in Mathematics from IMPA in 1980. A postdoctoral period at the State University of New York in Stony Brook marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration with Prof. D. Gromoll that lasted several years. Prof. Dajczer and Dr. Ruy Tojeiro are co-authors of the textbook Submanifold Theory: Beyond an Introduction, which is available in Springer's Universitext series.

This book presents the design requirements of novel electromagnetic wave shielding materials for modern commercial devices. A detailed in-depth analysis of the material synthesis with numerous practical case studies are presented in this book. The principles of microwave characterization of these materials are also explored. The definitions and procedural methods to characterize the shielding effectiveness are also presented. The practical use of polymer nanocomposite prepared by MWCNT, SWCNT, nanofibers, graphene and various ferrites in the polymer matrix is discussed. Practical use-case scenarios of design processes of various polymers along with general nanomaterials, carbon nanomaterials, inorganic magnetic nanoparticles, are also investigated. The effects of equity and inclusion show in multiple ways, including the lack of: Ease of access to affordable healthy food and agriculture. Community green design for people with different health and abilities. Ease of access in public and private spaces for people with different visual, walking, hearing, mobile, and learning abilities. Safe and equitable public green design for womxn and people in the LGBTQIA+ community. Green design in areas with a focus for people who are Black, Brown, and from underserved communities. Ease of access in public and private spaces for people who do not fluently understand English or the native language of the site. Green spaces in areas of people with lower economic means. Community green design for immigrants to celebrate their culture. Addressing equity and inclusion can be designed directly into sites as integral in the design process through retrofitting existing sites, as well as new site design. Exploring healthy approaches to the important topic of equality is an important step in acknowledging the lack of equity and inclusion and exploring new designs. This involves listening to people; and creatively exploring design for diversity and inclusion for health, abilities, sexuality, gender, age, race, language, income range, and cultures. This book gives readers a way to not only understand equity and inclusion in greening but also to understand how to develop inclusive approaches for design. The two basic site types in this book are: existing spaces, which greening design is applied to afterwards; and upcoming spaces, which greening design is integral to the built into the space. Retrofitting greening into existing space can also be combined with new designs. There are examples of both types throughout the book.
