The Inclusive Teacher: A Practical Guide to Inclusion in Australian Classrooms
Par David Armstrong, David Roy. 2026
This quick-reference, highly practical guide is designed to help teachers successfully include students with a disability in the classroom, as…
well as being a research text.Armstrong and Roy focus on key 'sticky' issues often referenced by teachers, schools, and government as preventing inclusion, filling in the gaps in current teacher capabilities in responding to these issues. They cover, for example, how to record educational progress for a student with a disability on an Individual Education Plan (IEP), how teachers should respond to occupational violence in a classroom by a student with a disability, and the need to teach routines. The authors provide learning activities and use vignettes throughout the book to offer a story format and help the reader understand how to overcome persistent challenges to educational inclusion for those with a disability. The guidance provided is mapped to relevant Australian teacher standards and government recommendations, and has been successfully road-tested with Australian state governments, schools, and thousands of pre-service teachers. An essential read for pre-service teachers, this book will also be of interest to new and in-service teachers in the mainstream sector as well as in the special education and alternative school sectors.

This book grew out of desperate need. I was a storyboard artist at Disney and had no idea what I…
was doing. At Disney, I was surrounded by amazing talents. I went into work early and typed up notes on what I was learning. This experience became Directing the Story. I went on to storyboard over a dozen features, several TV animated shows and later directed Donald Duck in Fantasia 2000, Piglet’s BIG Movie and 2 seasons of Mira Royal Detective. This new edition of Directing the Story includes storyboarding for 3D animation illustrated with storyboard examples. During my time teaching storyboarding, I noticed many beginners struggle with drawing the figure. I’ve introduced drawing star figures. They’re the equivalent of the flour sack technique animators use to learn to animate flow, force, timing and shape distortion. And once the student masters that, I show how the anatomy drops right into place.Out of my frustration of trying to write my own stories and watching the waste at the studio’s race to get things into production, I’ve struggled for years to discover the secrets of story. I’m currently working on a new theory of story which shows how all the parts of story, character and plot work together. I’m including the beginning basics of this theory which allows my students to come up with a story in 7 minutes. Plot takes longer.

This book reimagines the history of knowledge in 18th-century Britain by exploring how ideas were transmitted and diffused across generations…
and disciplines. Drawing on innovative digital tools, it uncovers collective patterns in the language of science, philosophy and commerce, revealing how concepts such as ‘system’, ‘sensibility’ and ‘volition’ were shaped and shared by communities rather than individuals. The study examines the commodification of knowledge, tracing its connections with the rise of capitalism and the emergence of knowledge as a storable, transferable asset. By distinguishing between the optimistic project of transmission to posterity and the anxieties surrounding the diffusion of knowledge, this book illuminates the political, social and economic stakes of Enlightenment thought. Blending literary analysis, intellectual history, and digital humanities, it offers new perspectives for scholars and general readers on how knowledge structures persist and evolve, and why their movement matters for modernity.

Critical Thinking in Public Policy and Management (Routledge Focus on Business and Management)
Par Michael Macaulay. 2026
Critical thinking is a crucial skillset for policy and management scholars and practitioners. This book outlines the ways in which…
this skillset is sometimes overlooked and how it can be enhanced. It defines constructive critical thinking, outlining some common applications before looking more specifically at how these occur within policy and management. It then moves to a deeper discussion on scholarship and the ways in which critical thinking gaps can lead to ahistorical narratives that become distorted into myths, concluding with a challenge to scholars and suggestions for practitioners to bolster their critical thinking skills and embed them more fully in their professional lives. Working as a guide to using critical thinking, this short book will appeal to researchers, advanced students, and practitioners with an interest in the conceptualisation of policy, management, and public administration.

The Routledge Handbook of Architecture and Anthropology: Contemporary Approaches to a Cross-Disciplinary Field (Routledge International Handbooks)
Par Aina Landsverk Hagen, Ying Zhou, Marie Stender, Claus Bech-Danielsen, Madlen Kobi. 2026
This handbook provides fresh insights into the debates and challenges that unfold in the cross-disciplinary field of architecture and anthropology.…
Based on studies of empirical contexts across the globe, the authors launch and test a broad variety of methods and advance various theoretical concepts.Architecture and anthropology have always had overlapping interests, but a range of developments in both areas make it more relevant than ever to intersect, overlap, combine or even merge the two disciplines. In anthropology, the spatial, material, and nonhuman turns have paved the way for an increasing interest in, and need for, of changing the world, rather than just studying it. On the other hand, architecture, beyond designing structures, has become interested in the uses and processes that unfold in, during, and after construction. The contemporary research and practices in both disciplines are testimonies that a cross-disciplinary exchange is inspiring for engaging with, and responding to, the challenges of a world in ecological, societal, and political turmoil. This handbook addresses established scholars, students, and practitioners alike by outlining contemporary developments and tensions at the intersection of architecture and anthropology.
