Fall 2024
Welcome to The Library Page!
Hi,
I’m Rachel, CELA’s Manager of Member Services. The team and I have been working hard this summer to refresh our content to help you deliver CELA at your library. I’m delighted to introduce The Library Page, a new occasional newsletter from the Centre for Equitable Library Access designed to give you quick access to new resources, programs and services offered by CELA. Watch for our Open Book for Libraries newsletter for our regular features, longer news stories and our Top 5 popular books read by our users. Open Book for Libraries will still be published monthly.
Let’s get to it. Here are six links for you from CELA.

1. CELA Essentials
Based on feedback from libraries, we’ve created a new page called CELA Essentials, designed to give library staff quick access to the basics they need to know about CELA.
Check out the CELA Essentials page
2. Crafts and activities guide
Need children’s programming ideas that incorporate accessibility? Check out our new crafts and activities guide for children.

3. Go back to school with CELA!
We’ve got a new guide to help libraries, teachers and students with print disabilities find what they need for accessible reading.

4. Braille Report
Our Braille Report has been released detailing what we learned from our Braille Study last year. Find out what your patrons with low vision or blindness need and want to support their reading.
5. TDSRC Accessibility Award
The deadline for the TDSRC Accessibility Award is October 2, 2024. The prize is $2000 to be used in your library. Don’t delay! Submit your application and let us celebrate your creative and accessible TD Summer Reading Club.
Apply for the TDSRC Accessibility Award by October 2
6. Accessible books to promote
Here are 10 accessible books to promote in your library, on social media and in your newsletters this month.

And just a reminder that October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. When you are promoting books and resources related to dyslexia, don’t forget to include CELA’s collection and services in your promotions to patrons and educators.
Like this new newsletter? We’d love to hear from you!
