Summary
In the 1870s, two young girls--one in Santo Domingo and one in Maine--both like chocolate ice. In Santo Domingo, farmers grow cocoa beans to make chocolate. In Maine, blocks of ice are cut from the frozen river and stored in… ice houses. When summer arrives, the ice is shipped to Santo Domingo, where it is traded for cocoa, and both girls have their chocolate ice! For grades 2-4
