Praxisbuch Imaginative Techniken in der Psychotherapie: Grundlagen, Techniken und Anwendung
By Simin Bengler. 2021

By Michael P. Hengartner. 2022
This book addresses the over-prescribing of antidepressants in people with mostly mild and subthreshold depression. It outlines the steep increase…
in antidepressant prescription and critically examines the current scientific evidence on the efficacy and safety of antidepressants in depression. The book is not only concerned with the conflicting views as to whether antidepressants are useful or ineffective in various forms of depression, but also aims at detailing how flaws in the conduct and reporting of antidepressant trials have led to an overestimation of benefits and underestimation of harms. The transformation of the diagnostic concept of depression from a rare but serious disorder to an over-inclusive, highly prevalent but predominantly mild and self-limiting disorder is central to the books argument. It maintains that biological reductionism in psychiatry and pharmaceutical marketing reframed depression as a brain disorder, corroborating the overemphasis on drug treatment in both research and practice. Finally, the author goes on to explore how pharmaceutical companies have distorted the scientific literature on the efficacy and safety of antidepressants and how patient advocacy groups, leading academics, and medical organisations with pervasive financial ties to the industry helped to promote systematically biased benefit-harm evaluations, affecting public attitudes towards antidepressants as well as medical education, training, and practice.Biografisches und Kreatives Schreiben gegen Prüfungsangst: Ein theoretisches und methodisches Rahmenkonzept

critiques of scientism, objectivism, and instrumentalism, and then discusses how these contribute to institutionalized privilege and to less morally responsive research practices. The author draws on historical, critical, feminist, and science studies traditions to provide an alternative account of psychological science and to highlight the irreducibly moral foundations of everyday scientific practice. This work outlines a theoretical framework for thinking about and practicing psychology in ways that center moral responsibility, collective commitment, and justice. The book then applies this framework, describing psychological research practices in terms of the their moral dilemmas. By Lynn Brunet. 2019
The Red Book is C.G. Jung’s record of a period of deep penetration into his unconscious mind in a process…
that he called ‘active imagination’, undertaken during his mid-life period. Answer to Jung: Making Sense of ‘The Red Book’ provides a close reading of this magnificent yet perplexing text and its fascinating images, and demonstrates that the fantasies in The Red Book are not entirely original, but that their plots, characters and symbolism are remarkably similar to some of the higher degree rituals of Continental Freemasonry. It argues that the fantasies may be memories of a series of terrifying initiatory ordeals, possibly undergone in childhood, using altered or spurious versions of these Masonic rites. It then compares these initiatory scenarios with accounts of ritual trauma that have been reported since the 1980s. This is the first full-length study of The Red Book to focus on the fantasies themselves and provide such an external explanation for them. Sonu Shamdasani describes The Red Book as an incomplete task that Jung left to posterity as a ‘message in a bottle’ that would someday come ashore. Answer to Jung brings its message to shore, providing a coherent, but disturbing, interpretation of each of the fantasies and their accompanying images.Foundations of Spiritual Formation: A Community Approach to Becoming Like Christ
By Paul Pettit. 2008
Foundations of Spiritual Formation takes a unique approach to its subject, arguing that we become like Christ in the context…
of authentic, Christian community. Without undermining individual Bible study, private prayer, and meditation, the authors emphasize these pursuits for the purpose of both personal and community enrichment-that the whole body, as well as the individual, may be built up. Part 1 lays the groundwork of spiritual formation. Jonathan Morrow develops a distinctively evangelical theology, while Richard Averbeck writes about worship. Then Gordon Johnston and Darrell Bock delve into the text of Scripture, grounding the pursuit of spiritual formation in revealed truth. Part 2 focuses on functional aspects of spiritual formation. Klaus Issler emphasizes the importance of the heart in spiritual formation, while Reid Kisling illustrates the vital connection between character development and spiritual formation. Bill Miller explores love's role as the motivation for spiritual formation. Andrew Seidel examines servant leadership, and George Hillman extends the discussion to include the significance of calling. Gail Seidel discusses personal narrative as a catalyst for spiritual formation, and in closing, Harry Shields advocates the public preaching of the Word as a tool for spiritual formation.Reflective Practice and Professional Development in Psychotherapy

Providing a follow up to the 2014 book The Clinical Effectiveness of Neurolinguistic Programming, this book updates the existing research evidence for NLP interventions with mental health clinical conditions. It includes further evidence for its use with somatoform disorders, anxiety and depression, and as a general psychotherapy modality. The book outlines up-to-date evidence from clinical trials that demonstrate the success rate of NLP with PTSD populations and discusses how ongoing randomised clinical trials at Kings College London are demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of NLP protocols and are becoming more widely accepted by mainstream mental health care. Written by a team of internationally academically informed clinicians and researchers, the book will be key reading for academics, researchers and post-graduate students in the field of mental health research, psychotherapy and counselling. By Blanca Estela Barcelata Eguiarte, Paloma Suárez Brito. 2021
This book analyzes the factors and mechanisms involved in the development and adaptation of children and adolescents to adverse and…
risky contexts in four Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. The experience of growing up in contexts of poverty and social vulnerability is a risk factor for child and adolescent development which may produce a series of negative effects in their adulthood, including mental disorders. This is a global concern, but so far the majority of literature about the topic has focused on developed countries. This volume aims to enrich the international literature by presenting results of research carried out in developing countries, showing how children and adolescents deal with adverse and risky contexts and analyzing both negative outcomes and the development of resilience and coping strategies. The studies gathered in this volume are theoretically grounded on systemic and ecological models which analyze developmental trajectories and outcomes taking into account the interaction of different ecological systems, such as the individual, the family, the school and the wider society. Departing from this theoretical framework, the chapters in this volume analyze the risk factors posed to child and adolescent development by adverse and risky social contexts and present evidence-based interventions aimed at both preventing negative outcomes and helping children and adolescents develop coping strategies to deal with adverse situations, such as poverty and social marginalization. Child and Adolescent Development in Risky Adverse Contexts: A Latin American Perspective will be of interest to developmental, clinical, health, and educational psychologists, as well as social workers, directly working or doing research with children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability.Women’s Agency in the Dune Universe: Tracing Women’s Liberation through Science Fiction
By Kara Kennedy. 2021
This book undertakes the first large-scale analysis of women’s agency in Frank Herbert’s six-book science fiction Dune series. Kara Kennedy…
explores how female characters in the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood—from Jessica to Darwi Odrade—secure control and influence through five avenues of embodied agency: mind-body synergy, reproduction and motherhood, voices, education and memory, and sexuality. She also discusses constraints on their agency, tensions between individual and collective action, and comparisons with other characters including the Mentats, Bene Tleilaxu, and Honored Matres. The book engages with second-wave feminist theories and historical issues to highlight how the series anticipated and paralleled developments in the women’s liberation movement. In this context, it addresses issues regarding sexual difference and solidarity, as well as women’s demand to have control over their bodies. Kennedy concludes that the series should be acknowledged as a significant contribution to the genre as part of both New Wave and feminist science fiction.Therapeutic Cultural Routines to Build Family Relationships: Talk, Touch & Listen While Combing Hair©
