Being Yourself and Evolve Your Brain , draws on research conducted at his advanced workshops since 2012 to explore how common people are doing the uncommon to transform themselves and their lives. Becoming Supernatural marries the some of the most profound scientific information with ancient wisdom to show how people like you and me can experience a more mystical life. Topics include: Demystifying the body's 7 energy centers and how you can balance them to heal How to free yourself from the past by reconditioning your body to a new mind How you can create reality in the generous present moment by changing your energy The difference between third-dimension creation and fifth-dimension creation The secret science of the pineal gland and its role in accessing mystical realms of reality The distinction between Space-Time vs. Time-Space realities And much more... By Jessica J. Lee. 2024
INSTANT TORONTO STAR BESTSELLERThe prize-winning and bestselling author of Two Trees Make a Forest turns to the lives of plants…
entangled in our human world to explore belonging, displacement, identity, and the truths of our shared futureA seed slips beyond a garden wall. A tree is planted on a precarious border. A shrub is stolen from its culture and its land. What happens when these plants leave their original homes and put down roots elsewhere? The themes in these fourteen essays become invigorating and intimate in Lee’s hands, centering on the lives of plants like seaweed, tangelos, and soy, and their entanglement with our human worlds. Lee explores the rich backstory of cherry trees in Berlin; a tea plant that grows in the Himalayan foothills just southwest of China; the world of algae and wakame, and the journeys they’ve made to reach us.Each of the plants considered in this collection are somehow perceived as being "out of place"—weeds, samples collected through imperial science, crops introduced and transformed by our hand. Lee looks at these plant species in their own context, even when we find them outside of it.Dispersals draws a gorgeous, sprawling map of the diaspora of flora. Combining memoir, history, and scientific research in poetic prose, Jessica J. Lee meditates on the question of how both plants and people come to belong, why both cross borders, and how our futures are more entwined than we might imagine.Releasing the Mother Load: How to Carry Less and Enjoy Motherhood More

Animals as Experiencing Entities: Theories and Historical Narratives (The Palgrave Macmillan Animal Ethics Series)
By Michael J. Glover, Les Mitchell. 2024
This volume explores the experiences of those with little or no power—usually, although not exclusively, animals. The theme of animals…
as experiencing entities is what links the chapters and characterises the volume. Broadly each author in this volume contributes in one of two ways. The first group, in Section 1, theoretically engages animal subjectivity, animal experiences, and ways in which these are to some extent accessible and knowable to humans. The second group of authors, in Section 2, offer narrative accounts about specific animals or groups of animals and explore to some extent their subjective historical experiences. In summary, the first section diversely theorises about animal experiences, while the second section’s authors assume animals’ subjective experiences and construct narratives that take into account how animals might have subjectively experienced historical phenomena.Positivity: Confidence, Resilience, Motivation
By Paul McKenna. 2021
Do you want more optimism, confidence, resilience and motivation? Then this book is for you! We currently live in a…
time of unprecedented challenges, uncertainty, overwhelming stress, loss of hope at times and a need for mental strength and adaptability to a new way of life.Traditional 'positive thinking', trying to constantly tell yourself that everything is OK, no matter the circumstances, just isn't enough to make any lasting difference. After 30 years working as a therapist, Paul McKenna has developed a unique approach – one that can guide you towards an all-round feeling of positivity – putting you into optimal states of mind, building up your resilience and enabling good decisions and actions that lead to successful results in life. There is now irrefutable scientific evidence that shows that particular ways of thinking and acting produce tangible positive results in people's ability to deal with challenges and their overall quality of life. The research also shows that this mindset can be learned quickly just like any habit. And that is why this book is a practical psychological system in how to survive and thrive – how to discover your own natural most powerful resources for self-care, self-belief and for taking control of your life.Risk, Uncertainty and Maladaptation to Climate Change: Policy, Practice and Case Studies (Disaster Risk Reduction)
By Anindita Sarkar, Nairwita Bandyopadhyay, Shipra Singh, Ruchi Sachan. 2024
This book focuses on integrated disaster risk reduction arising out of climate change and shows how communities build resilience through…
adaptive and transformative strategies at the local and global levels. It integrates disaster risk, uncertainty, and maladaptation to climate change with evidence from empirical research and a systematic review of existing studies. The book also proposes two important contributions, which makes it distinctive. First, it gives a systematic review of the literature to capture the changing context and concept of risk, uncertainty, and maladaptation to climate change. Second, it uses case studies from around the globe to demonstrate the ways that communities have fostered to build resilience to mitigate the impacts of climate change. There is a growing recognition that decision-makers often rely on intuitive thinking processes rather than undertaking a systematic analysis of options in a deliberative fashion. This latter approach requires accepting a plurality of narratives, embracing multiple disciplinary perspectives, and above all, integrating the appropriate disciplines that can help in finding better solutions. Thus, the book adds value to the existing knowledge on climate change adaptation, perception, and policy initiatives to address disaster risk reduction. It considers all these interconnected issues of risk, uncertainty, and maladaptation through a series of conceptual review- and evidence-based case studies to create new knowledge to address climate change adaptation and a resilient future. The book is a useful contribution to resilience scientists, policymakers, and practitioners from diverse disciplines.Riverbank Erosion in the Bengal Delta: An Integrated Perspective (Springer Geography)
By Aznarul Islam, Sanat Kumar Guchhait. 2024
This book discusses the issue of riverbank erosion and its associated causes, risks and social challenges in the Bengal Delta.…
The book covers the physical processes and indicators of riverbank erosion such as sediment flux and channel morphology, the anthropogenic and natural causes of erosion, the social consequences that afflict vulnerable communities who depend on the delta for their livelihoods, and potential solutions to harmful erosion processes such as bioengineering methods and increased community governance through a socio-hydrological approach. Though the Bengal Delta is one of the most populated regions in the world, few publications exist that discuss riverbank erosion as a major threat to environmental and livelihood sustainability in a comprehensive manner. The book will fill this gap in research for students and researchers in geography and environmental sciences, and will engage regional planners, decision makers and policy makers to further their understanding of the complex social and environmental aspects of the Bengal Delta associated with persistent and worsening riverbank erosion. The Grizzly Mother (Mothers of Xsan)

By John T. Van Stan II, Jack Simmons. 2024
This book examines the intricate web linking water science and society using diverse philosophical lenses. Highlighting the tensions within the…
threads of this web, we spotlight major conceptual tightropes that water researchers tread daily. To effectively navigate these delicate threads, a 'healthy' tension in the encompassing web is necessary. Drawing inspiration from Freud's examination of tensions in "Society and Its Discontents," we illuminate the tension-filled paradoxes inherent to water science, emphasizing the challenges in keeping these paradoxical threads taut enough to ensure a navigable and sustainable bond with society. Central to our narrative is the escalating societal urge to quantify and 'manage' water—something interwoven throughout every environmental layer, including the fabric of our being. An excessive focus on management may alienate users from their water realities, jeopardizing the vital threads that sustainability tether water science and society. Consequently, this book explores compelling and inescapable tensions that resist tidy universal resolution, such as: the language of water science, including its mathematical reductions (i.e., models); the effect of water's commodification on its science; hydrology’s intersection with colonialism; and other concerns that reveal distortions in our hydrology. We aim to aid water professionals in recognizing and fine-tuning the paradoxes intrinsic to their work. To underscore the interwoven complexity of contemporary hydrology, "Hydrology and Its Discontents" guides readers into the tempestuous depths of water research, all the while urging a recalibration of perspectives and motivations. The Healthy Hundred: 100 Ways to a Healthier, Happier and Longer Life
