Organizational Commitment and Knowledge Sharing in Contemporary Companies (Routledge Studies in Management, Organizations and Society)
By Regina Lenart-Gansiniec, Anna Wziątek-Staśko, Izabela Michalik. 2022
When evaluating the success of an organization, the value of employees’ organizational commitment and the process of knowledge sharing among…
staff must be considered. As illustrated in this volume, these two concepts are key conditions for organizational success in the contemporary world. This book explores the concept of organizational commitment, what it is, and how to use and understand the value in knowledge management and sharing for both employees and organizations as a whole. A profound analysis of the global literature exposes organizational commitment and knowledge sharing as key determinants of the effectiveness of the organization management process, including human capital management. While much space in the literature on the subject is devoted to the exploration of the above-mentioned concepts, treated as categories subject to separate analysis, the diagnosis and analysis of the relationship between them should be treated as a poorly recognized process. This book fills a research gap, providing a theoretical foundation and important information on organizational commitment and knowledge sharing, highlighting the relationship between both research categories. It will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students in the fields of human resource management, leadership, and organizational studies.College Accounting: Chapters 1-12 With Study Guide and Working Papers

Known variously as international new ventures…
(INVs) or "born globals," such firms have come to be viewed as legitimate actors on the global stage alongside large multinational enterprises (MNEs). However, the current approach taken by scholars – studying large MNEs and born globals separately – is questionable. This book explores the crucial MNE/INV interface – a fascinating, yet under-researched relationship in international entrepreneurship. Drawing upon a decade of case-based research, the author argues that the MNE influence on born globals must be considered more carefully and suggests how new ventures can leverage MNE networks in the pursuit of their rapid internationalization. Furthermore, it demonstrates that, as firms enhance their levels of innovation, new pathways emerge via multinational corporation networks, a phenomenon vividly demonstrated in the emerging economy context of the Bangalore software industry. This innovative research text will be of interest to academics, researchers, and advanced students with an interest in international entrepreneurship and business, strategy, innovation, and new ventures.Making Public Policy Decisions: Expertise, skills and experience (Routledge Critical Studies in Public Management)
By Jenny M. Lewis, Damon Alexander. 2015
To understand public policy decisions, it is imperative to understand the capacities of the individual actors who are making them,…
how they think and feel about their role, and what drives and motivates them. However, the current literature takes little account of this, preferring instead to frame the decisions as the outcomes of a rational search for value-maximising alternatives or the result of systematic and well-ordered institutional and organisational processes. Yet understanding how personal and emotional factors interact with broader institutional and organisational influences to shape the deliberations and behaviour of politicians and bureaucrats is paramount if we are to construct a more useful, nuanced and dynamic picture of government decision-making. This book draws on a variety of approaches to examine individuals working in contemporary government, from freshly-trained policy officers to former cabinet ministers and prime ministers. It provides important new insights into how those in government navigate their way through complex issues and decisions based on developed expertise that fuses formal, rational techniques with other learned behaviours, memories, emotions and practiced forms of judgment at an individual level. This innovative collection from leading academics across Australia, Europe, the United Kingdom and North America will be of great interest to researchers, educators, advanced students and practitioners working in the fields of political science, public management and administration, and public policy.Rethinking Macroeconomics: An introduction
By John F. McDonald. 2016
The field of macroeconomics has always played host to contesting schools of thought, but the recent Global Financial Crisis has…
exacerbated those differences. In order to fully understand macroeconomics at the introductory level, students need to be aware of these controversies. Rethinking Macroeconomics introduces students to the different schools of thought, equipping them with the knowledge needed for a real understanding of today’s macro economy. The text guides the reader through various approaches to the analysis of the macro economy of the U.S., before presenting the data for several critical economic episodes, in order to discover which analytical method provides the best explanation for each event. It covers key background information on topics such as the basics of supply and demand, macroeconomic data, international trade and the balance of payments, and the creation of the money supply. Offering the context that is missing from existing introductory macroeconomics texts, John F. McDonald encourages students to think critically about received economic wisdom. This text is the ideal complement to any introductory macroeconomics textbook and is best suited for undergraduate students who have had an introductory course in economics. The Philosophy of Debt (Economics as Social Theory)
By Alexander X. Douglas. 2016
I owe you a dinner invitation, you owe ten years on your mortgage, and the government owes billions. We speak…
confidently about these cases of debt, but is that concept clear in its meaning? This book aims to clarify the concept of debt so we can find better answers to important moral and political questions. This book seeks to accomplish two things. The first is to clarify the concept of debt by examining how the word is used in language. The second is to develop a general, principled account of how debts generate genuine obligations. This allows us to avoid settling each case by a bare appeal to moral intuitions, which is what we seem to currently do. It requires a close examination of many institutions, e.g. money, contract law, profit-driven finance, government fiscal operations, and central banking. To properly understand the moral and political nature of debt, we must understand how these institutions have worked, how they do work, and how they might be made to work. There have been many excellent anthropological and sociological studies of debt and its related institutions. Philosophy can contribute to the emerging discussion and help us to keep our language precise and to identify the implicit principles contained in our intuitions.Complexity in Organizations: A Research Overview (State of the Art in Business Research)
By Stig O. Johannessen. 2022
Written with pace and clarity, this book is a comprehensive and compact overview and introduction to the research landscape of…
complexity in organizations. In addition to conveying a gripping history of how complexity has influenced organizational ideas, theories, and practices throughout the 20th century and into our present age, the book sheds light on how ground-breaking ideas in chaos and complexity research have emerged and challenged the very foundations of science into a changed vision of nature, society, and human organizations. As well as being an exciting investigation into complexity research in organizations, the book shows how, in the past, researchers who were immersed in the power politics of their day grappled with the theme of complexity in their quest to understand the dynamics of organization in nature and society. By welding fundamental theoretical themes and practical implications into the political and social contexts in which they emerged, this overview provides both depth and breadth to the history, as well as the future, of studies of complexity in organized activity. The book is a lucid and essential study of a topic that will be of interest to scholars, researchers, and students in the fields of business and management, especially those with an interest in the ways that complexity affects and transforms organizations.Die Heldin in uns ist wie ein zweiter Vorname. By Ingun Grimstad Klepp, Tone Skårdal Tobiasson. 2022
This book explores the importance of the agriculturally-based fiber and textile industry, and how local, small-scale operations and markets, coupled…
with a connection to soil health, can lead the way to new transformative changes. It draws on a four-year research project on Norwegian wool, as well as similar studies in Poland and Portugal. It also explores the role of women and the Indigenous perspective: in Europe this will constitute Sami and Inuit, in Northern America the Inuit and First Nations in Canada, along with Native Americans. Born out of academic interest in the slow food movement, the importance of local raw materials has been put under the spotlight in recent years. Meanwhile, the havoc wreaked by the fast fashion industry has been drawing attention to the need for a new, sustainable approach to clothing and textile manufacture. This edited collection is unique in its scope, taking the conversation beyond traditional debates around fast fashion and agriculture, and examining how textile industry is rooted in the land, and within society and community. Featuring a diverse range of authors, the book will be valuable reading for academics interested in sustainable management, the study of consumption, the study of Indigenous perspectives, and the study of agricultural practices.Managing Smart Cities: Sustainability and Resilience Through Effective Management

By Anurag K. Agarwal. 2022
The book focuses on the different aspects of business in India required to be taken care of by any businessperson,…
especially a foreigner, willing to do business in India. India is known for “unity in diversity.” The country being a very old civilization, and of continental size with great diversity, often remains a mystery for most of the foreign investors and businesspersons who get very easily attracted to it because of the humongous market and its potential. The book goes deep into the various important aspects of business in India which essentially hold the key to success of a business venture. A good understanding of the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal aspects (the PESTEL framework) of the business environment in the country holds a businessperson in good stead in comparison with others who have little or no idea of the big picture. The book discusses these aspects with pertinent examples to make understanding their interplay easy. Any person unfamiliar with India as a country will get a good idea of different aspects of the country through the PESTEL framework and will be able to understand the true meaning of unity in diversity. Also, it makes it possible for someone well versed with the system of business in India to appreciate the finer aspects. The book is divided into three modules. The first module provides an overview of business in India, scope and potential for growth, opportunities, and some good success stories. The second module goes into the details of the PESTEL framework and discusses each arm at length. The combined study of numerous factors, which has been divided into different heads for better understanding, brings out many stories giving a fantastic learning experience. A closer look at how things are changing and what can be anticipated arguably is the most important part of the book, providing pointers to remain connected with day-to-day happenings. The third module goes into the practical aspects of doing business and deals with investment, establishing and running a business in India. Altogether, the book is a complete package to facilitate ease of business in the country and will be of interest to practitioners, policy makers and researchers working in this field.Exploring Civic Innovation for Social and Economic Transformation (Routledge Studies in Development Economics)
