By Amy Krouse Rosenthal, Gracia Lam. 2015
New York Times best-selling picture-book author Amy Krouse Rosenthal teams with award-winning artist Gracia Lam to tell the sweet, simple…
story of a young child's typical day-from morning to bedtime. Like the title, each scene is described in three-word "ABC" phrases, such as "All Begins Cheerily" and "Always Be Curious." Secret "ABC" scenes hidden throughout the artwork-as a secondary "seek and find" game of sorts-encourage multiple readings and reward close-looking. An ideal read-aloud book to read just after waking or just before bed.By Shirley Jackson. 1963
It begins on a most unusual day, when a blue sun rises in a green sky and dozens of balloons…
fly from every tree. And when a magician in a long black coat and a starry hat turns up, the sights become even stranger. The magician grants a lucky child nine wishes, each more marvelous than the last - an orange pony with a purple tail, a garden with candy flowers, a pocket-sized zoo, and other whimsical wonders.Master storyteller Shirley Jackson, author of the short-story classic "The Lottery," collaborated with artist Lorraine Fox to create this winsome picture book. Illustrated with brilliantly colored two-page spreads, this vivid fantasy will transport young readers to a world of enchantment.By Sarah Ban Breathnach, Wendy Edelson. 2014
In her international bestseller Simple Abundance, Sarah Ban Breathnach inspired millions of women to find happiness in each day of…
their lives. Now Breathnach is back with her first children's book, The Best Part of the Day. Beautifully illustrated and lyrically written, this "good night" story encourages children to find at least one moment in each day that is worthy of celebration. The Best Part of the Day is the perfect addition to any family's nighttime routine.By Karl Kwasny, Kirsten Miller, Jason Segel. 2015

China's most outrageous character--the magical Monkey who battles a hundred monsters--returns to the fray in this seventeenth-century sequel to the…
Buddhist novel Journey to the West. In The Tower of Myriad Mirrors, he defends his claim to enlightenment against a villain who induces hallucinations that take Monkey into the past, to heaven and hell, and even through a sex change. The villain turns out to be the personification of his own desires, aroused by his penetration of a female adversary's body in Journey to the West. In this, his only novel, author Tung Yueh (1620-1686), a monk and Confucian scholar, picks up the slapstick of the original tale and overlays it with Buddhist theory and bitter satire of the Ming government's capitulation to the Manchus. After a nod to Journey's storyteller format, Tung carries Monkey's quest into an evocation of shifting psychological states rarely found in premodern fiction. An important though relatively unknown link in the development of the Chinese novel and window into late Ming intellectual history, The Tower of Myriad Mirrors further rewards by being a wonderful read. Shuen-fu Lin is Professor of Chinese literature at the University of Michigan. Larry Schulz holds a Ph. D. in Chinese intellectual history from Princeton University and has published his dissertation, "Lai Chih-te and the Phenomenology of Change," and articles on traditional Chinese medicine. He is currently a senior officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.By Jules Miller. 2014

prove this to be the case, armed with a tiny tooth and a thirst for the truth. Or something more?Featuring a whimsical story and simple, colorful illustrations by author/illustrator Jules Miller, Ellie and the Truth About the Tooth Fairy encourages children to believe while also promoting good oral hygiene.
