investigate an alleged paranormal dimension to a spate of road accidents in the sleepy village of Wychehill. As Merrily and the police follow separate paths towards the truth, Merrily's teenage daughter, Jane, faces the consequences of her own obsession with a possibly prehistoric site in their home village of Ledwardine. a turn for the worse, so do their fates, and raw evil runs riot the night of the impossible hurricane. Goodbye Mr. Rat centers around the spirit of an IRA bomber watching over his ex-lover as she takes his ashes back to his rural hometown. This girl from northern Indiana may not be ready for rural Ireland, yet the townsfolk of Iron Valley certainly have plans for her. In this stark, blackly humorous story, McCabe writes like M. R. James if he took a wrong turn onto an Irish country road. an Irish country road. The Hollow Tree

By Arthur Machen. 2012
From the beginning of his literary career, Machen espoused a mystical belief that the humdrum ordinary world hid a more…
mysterious and strange world beyond. His gothic and decadent works of the 1890s concluded that the lifting of this veil could lead to madness, sex, or death, and usually a combination of all three. Machen's later works became somewhat less obviously full of gothic trappings, but for him investigations into mysteries invariably resulted in life-changing transformation and sacrifice. Machen loved the medieval world view because he felt it combined deep spirituality alongside a rambunctious earthiness.DEAD IN BED by Bailey Simms: Fifty Shades of Gangrene
By Adrian Birch. 2015
You've never, ever read a story like this. Ashley Young is stuck in an unsatisfying marriage and a dead-end job.…
But when a sexually transmitted plague breaks out in her small town--one that slowly transforms everyone infected into crazed zombielike sex fiends--everything about her life changes. Facing quarantine, National Guard barricades, the onset of winter, and a rapidly spreading, mysterious sex plague, Ashley and everyone else in her small Colorado town find their deepest feelings for one another surfacing...both amorously and violently. When everyone in Ashley's life begins taking comfort in one another's arms, no one really knows who's infected and who's not. And because the disease perpetuates itself as an aphrodisiac, sex--the very thing that offers comfort--only contributes to spreading the plague. In a crumbling world with little to lose, Ashley begins to discover a resilience she didn't know she possessed and a strength she's never had before. Her newly acquired agency may come at a price, however, when Ashley must ultimately choose between her own survival and saving the people she loves. DEAD IN BED by Bailey Simms delivers a tour-de-force series that's as emotionally incisive as it is shockingly sexy, as heartbreaking as it is hilarious, and as frightful as it is impossible to put down. The Burial of the Rats

Phantom Lover and Other Thrilling Tales of Thailand
By Jim Algie. 2014
Dark magic and dark pasts haunt the characters in these short stories set in mysterious, exotic Thailand. Ghosts and spirits…
and the real-life terror of despair besiege the pages of The Phantom Lover and Other Thrilling Tales of Thailand, horror stories by award-winning writer and longtime Thailand resident Jim Algie. In these tales you'll meet: A photojournalist who is literally haunted by the images of everyone he ever failed or exploited while getting a story. A drug trafficker-turned-writer who confronts vulnerability in his hard-as-nails partner in crime. An executioner who explores the nature of violence in a painful search for loving kindness. For these characters, the naturally lush, deeply spiritual, and excitingly urban Thailand that is there home is also a place full of demons, a place where desperation is another word for normal. Each story follows their attempts to push through and make sense of the many different shades of darkness. The Phantom Lover and Other Thrilling Tales of Thailand warps the boundaries between the conceivable and the bizarre, and proves that the surreal can seem very real indeed.A resident of Thailand since 1992, travel writer (and one-time punk rocker, cable TV host, college DJ, and music journalist) Jim Algie taps into Thailand's ethos from a very unique perspective. He offers readers the best elements from the worlds of both supernatural and horror fiction. The Monster of Lake Lametrie
